Obituary of Kathryn J. Gerics
Kathryn Jerothe Gerics, age 69, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Gregory Gerics, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Cambridge Manor. Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on May 23, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Vivian (Wagash) Jerothe and was a longtime resident of Trumbull.
Kathy enjoyed a joyful and adventurous childhood, filled with a wealth of experiences that shaped her into the vibrant and determined person she became. From family vacations to a wide range of sports activities, she embraced every opportunity to explore and grow. These formative years laid the foundation for her passion and drive, which she carried with her into adulthood. Her commitment to education led her to earn a B.S. from Fairfield University, followed by an M.B.A. from Sacred Heart University.
Kathy had a distinguished career at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was an innovator in finance in the Health Care industry, acting as the first Financial Manager of the Nursing Budget at YNHH. As her career developed, she moved from direct finance to planning, and was instrumental in the construction and finance of the Children’s Hospital and her name is written on the final girder commemorating her efforts.
For many years, Kathy faced significant physical challenges while residing in Cambridge Manor (Fairfield), enduring countless struggles with grace and resilience. Despite the limitations imposed by illness and frailty, she demonstrated a quiet strength, never losing the spirit that had defined her life. Each day brought its own obstacles, yet Kathy met them with determination, never allowing the circumstances to diminish the warmth of her heart or the kindness shared with those around her. She cherished the visits and FaceTimes with her family and friends, finding great comfort and joy in staying connected with her loved ones, no matter the distance. While the battle was long and often difficult, her courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance, love, and unwavering will.
In addition to her beloved husband Greg, survivors include her loving daughter, Kristina Coppola and her husband Michael, three brothers, Douglas Jerothe and his wife Patricia, Russell Jerothe and his wife Cloeta, and Richard Jerothe and his wife Pamela and two cherished grandsons, Luca and Nicholas as well as many nieces and nephews.
